George Williams e themeloi lëvizjen YMCA me 6 Qershor 1844, jashtë Katedrales St.Paul në Londer, që atë ditë lëvizja jonë ndërkombëtare është rritur dhe ka evoluar me punën e saj në 119 shtete të botës, dhe ka arritur që atëherë më se 58 milion njerëz. YMCA punon që të sjellë drejtësi sociale dhe paqe tek të rinjtë dhe komunitetet e tyre pa marrë parasysh fenë, race, gjininë apo kulturën.

Zyra kryesore e World Allience of YMCA’s është në Gjenevë, kurse zyra për YMCA Europë gjendet në Pragë

George Williams founded the YMCA movement on the 6th of June 1844 just outside St. Paul's Cathedral in London, since that day our International movement has grown and evolved to working in 119 countries and reaching more then 58 million people! The YMCA works to bring social justice and peace to young people and their communities, regardless of religion, race, gender or culture.

The head office for the World Alliance of YMCA's is in Geneva while the office for YMCA Europe is located in Prague.

YMCA in Kosovo Timeline

2003:

Është ngritur Zyra Kombëtare në Kosovë.

National Office is set up in Kosovo.

2008:

Kosova i çon 50 pjesmarrës në festivalin “Real Life” të YMCA Europës, në Pragë.

Kosovo takes 50 participants to YMCA Europes 'Real Life' festival in Prague.

2009:

Udhëheqësja e tanishme e YMCA në Kosovë, Dorina Lluka është udhëheqësja më e re e një YMCA në botë.

The current CEO Dorina Lluka leads Kosovo movement, making her youngest National YMCA CEO in the world movement.

2012:

Kosova i’u bashkangjitet të tjerëve në sfidën botërore të YMCA. 432.000 njerëz nga 85 shtete të ndryshme, gjuajtën kosha të basketbollit për 24 orë.

Kosovo join with others around the world for YMCAs World challenge. 432,000 people from 85 countries shoot baskets over 24 hours.

2013:

YMCA në Kosovë u ristrukturua.

Kosovo movement rebrand and restructure.

2013:

Kosova i çoi 50 pjesmarrës në festivalin e YMCA Europës “Love 2 Live” në Pragë.

Kosovo takes 50 particpants to YMCA Europe's 'Love 2 Live' festival in Prague.

2013:

CEO, Dorina Lluka i’a prezantoi një libër Znj. Albright, në emër të organizatës gjatë vizitës së saj në Kosovë.

CEO Dorina Lluka presents Mrs Albright with a book on behalf of our organisation during her visit to Kosovo.

2014:

Në Kosovë u mbledhën 3001 nënshkrime për YMCA Sfida Botërore 2014, që u mbajt në ditëlindjen e 170 të lëvizjes, me 6 Qershor 2014.

Kosovo record 3001 signatures for the 2014 YMCA World Challenge which is held on the movements 170th Birthday on 6th June 2014.

2014:

Dy përfaqësues të Kosovës morën pjesë në Këshillin Botëror të 18tin në Kolorado, SHBA.

Two representatives from Kosovo attend the 18th World Council in Colorado, USA.

2014:

YMCA në Kosovë hapi Dyqanin e Bamirësisë, të parin në vend, që u mbështet nga Y’s Men International.

Kosovo movement opens the first Charity Shop in the country supported by Y's Men International.

2015:

Projektet kombëtare filluan në Pejë dhe Fushë Kosovë.

Kosovo movement restarts national projects in Peja & Fushe Kosovo.

2016:

CEO Dorina Davies flet në OKB në New York, në emër të YMCA.

CEO Dorina Davies speaks at the UN in New York on behalf of the YMCA movement.

2016:

Lëvizja jonë bëhet anëtare e plotë e YMCA Europe.

Our movement becomes full members of YMCA Europe.

Organizata jonë u takua me HRH Prince Charles në Prishtinë, i cili e falenderoj organizatën për punën që bënë duke thënë "çfarë do të bënim ne pa YMCA?"

Our organisation meet HRH Prince Charles in Prishtina, who thanks the organisation for its work stating "what would we do without the YMCA?"

2016:

YMCA fillon projektet kombëtare në komunën e Junikut.

Kosovo movement starts national projects in Junik Municipality.

2017:

YMCA në Kosovë blen tokën në fshatin Pjetershan për kampin e ri.

Kosovo movement purchases land in Pjetershan Village for new camp.

2018:

YMCA në Kosovë fillon projektet kombëtare në Komunën e Deçanit.

Kosovo movement starts national projects in Decan Municipality.

2018:

Pesë përfaqësues nga Kosova marrin pjesë në Këshillin Botëror 19 në Chiang Mai, TajlandëFive representatives from Kosovo attend the 19th World Council in Chiang Mai, Thailand.

2019:

Pesëmbëdhjetë përfaqësues nga Kosova marrin pjesë në ngjarjen e Ditëlindjes së 175 në Londër Angli, ku Ambasadori i YMCA Florent Abrashi performon para mbi 3000 njerëzve në Londër Excel.

Fifteen representatives from Kosovo attended the 175th Birthday event in London England, where YMCA Ambassador Florent Abrashi performed to over 3000 people at the London Excel.

2019:

Organizata blen ndërtesën e saj të parë në Gjakovë e cila bëhet Qendra Kryesore e Magazinimit.

Movement purchases its first building in Gjakova which becomes the National Aid & Storage Centre.

2019:

Organizata fillon me projekte nacionale në Komunën e Rahovecit.

Kosovo movement starts national projects in Rahovec Municipality.

2019:

Dyqani i dytë i Bamirësisë hapet në kryeqytetin e Kosovë, Prishtinë, krahas Zyrës së re Qendrore.

The second Charity shop opens in the capital Prishtina alongside the new National Office.

2019:

Bashkpunimi me UNICEF bëri të mundur që YMCA të hap një Qendër të Inovacionit në Gjakovë duke arritur që të angazhojë 1000 të rinjtë përmes programit të kombinuar të UNICEF dhe YMCA.

Partnership with UNICEF established which sees the YMCA open a HUB of the Innovation Centre in Gjakova reaching 1000 youth through UNICEF & YMCA combined programming.

2020:

2020 saw us officially return to the YMCA name in Kosovo. The issue had been ongoing for several years and after going through the trademark process with the World YMCA and having an extraordinary Assembly meeting with a unanimous vote in favor- we legally returned to the YMCA.

2021:

With the sudden changes in Afghanistan and the withdrawal of the international community Kosovo found itself hosting families who were in transit to the USA. Our YMCA was invited to work with the refugees providing activities and sessions for the children. The YMCA did games, sports, crafts, and other activities during a 3-hour weekly session over the winter months. We were asked by the US Embassy in Kosovo for this support which we were proud to give.

2021:

In March to mark International Women’s Day our centers around Kosovo launched a campaign to provide free sanitary pads for young women who have economic difficulties in the municipalities of Peja, Gjakova, and Pristina. The purpose of this campaign was to raise awareness and open discussions at the national level about the importance of providing sanitary pads for free, especially in schools, and supporting our female members.

2021:

This year was a big year in terms of extending the movement's reach- not only did we move premises in Prishtina to a bigger space but we also opened two new shops in Prishtina and Gjakova. The Ambassador of the EU for Kosovo (a former member of the Czech YMCA) alongside the Mayor of Gjakova helped us open the shop in Gjakova while our Board members opened the shop in Prishtina under restrictions

2022:

After a 10-year journey for our movement at the World Council in Aarhus, Denmark we were officially welcomed as full members of the World Alliance of YMCAs after a unanimous yes vote from the members. Vice President Auron Kadrija signed the Golden Members book.
